Two climbers were found dead in the Wilson Glacier area of Mount Rainier after going missing late last week.
Rangers were searching for them since Saturday, The Seattle Times reported. The search for the climbers began when park rangers noticed their overdue climbing permits, quickly discovering they had not been in contact since Jan. 17.
A search team found their vehicle in the Paradise parking lot, then spotted two non-moving figures near Wilson Glacier. After a day passed — adverse weather conditions prevented aviation resources from accessing the area — rescue crews located their bodies on Jan. 20
Their bodies were located at approximately 9,600 feet in elevation.
No word yet on how they died, and the victim’s names have yet to be released.
