The first act to play in the brand-new Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle will be Coldplay.

The band will be in Seattle on Oct. 22. That gives arena staff less than one day to turn the Climate Pledge Arena from a concert venue into a hockey stadium for the Seattle Kraken’s first home game on Oct. 23.

Tickets for Coldplay will go on sale to the general public on Sept. 15 at 10 a.m.

The concert at Climate Pledge Arena will be the first live arena show for the seven-time Grammy award-winning band in nearly five years. Presented by Amazon Music, the Coldplay concert will also be streamed live on Amazon at 7 p.m. PST.

As announced this week, all arena guests age 12 and older will be required to provide proof of vaccination upon entry. For now, guests are also required to wear a mask while attending events until guidance changes in Washington state.

In addition to Seattle Kraken hockey and Seattle Storm WNBA basketball, the arena will host concerts and could also house a future Seattle NBA team. Capacity for NHL games sits at 17,100; concert capacity is up to 17,20; basketball games could draw up to 18,100.

Named by Amazon, Climate Pledge Arena plans to be the world’s first net zero carbon certified arena.
