You may have expected a fairly smooth ride into work or drive to Sea-Tac Airport Thursday morning, but that isn’t necessarily the case.

Slick roads and thick fog have resulted in crashes on highways, causing traffic across the greater Seattle area. Washington State Department of Transportation has crews out to help with icy roads.

A crash on northbound I-5 just south of the I-405/SR 518 interchange near Southcenter caused delays before 6 a.m. That crash has cleared, but backups remain.

Three lanes were blocked on the SB SR 99 1st Ave S. Bridge in Seattle. That crash cleared pretty quickly.

Another crash blocked a lane on SB I-405 in Alderwood, but cleared after 20 minutes.

The left lane of NB I-5 at SR 529 were blocked for a crash for about 20 minutes.

In Seattle, all southbound lanes were blocked on SR-99 at the West Seattle Bridge for an hour.

WSDOT is asking drivers to use caution and turn on your headlights.
