Court docs: Bothell man killed ailing wife

Mar 15, 2012, 5:31 AM | Updated: 2:54 pm

A Bothell man may have shot his wife to death because she
was suffering from a serious medical condition, according
to court documents released by the Snohomish County
Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

The man, 54, called 911 Wednesday afternoon to tell police
he had just shot his wife and needed an ambulance at their
home in the 1100 block of 202nd St. SE.

As police arrived on scene, the man’s two adult children
ran into the home. A short time later, the three walked
out of the house together and the man surrendered, said
Bureau Chief Kevin Prentiss with the Snohomish County
Sheriff’s Office.

When deputies entered the home they found a 52-year-old
woman deceased on the couch, where her body had been
draped with a “multi-colored fleece blanket,” according to
court documents. Investigators noted a black-colored
revolver lying on a medical bed near the body.

The man’s adult son told detectives his mother had been
ill for some time, and his father had been caring for her
for several years. According to court papers, the man’s
wife had asked him to shoot her months earlier, but his
daughter had told him not to.

“The male calling party … stated that he could not stand
it anymore and also stated that he was sorry,” the husband
reportedly told 911. He later told detectives his wife had
fallen asleep on the couch and he had sat next to her for
several hours before killing her.

The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for
investigation of first degree murder.
