The Crime Blotter: Ferndale cop standing trial in attempted child molestation case

The City of Ferndale has terminated the employment of Officer Scott Langton due to an inability to carry out his duties.

Langton allegedly asked to have sex with a woman and her 12-year-old daughter, and admitted his sexual attraction to children, according to court records reported by The Bellingham Herald.

Langton has been charged with attempted child molestation in the second degree in Whatcom County Superior Court. The Bellingham Police Department is continuing to investigate this matter.

The City of Ferndale is also conducting an internal investigation of this case, which is also ongoing.

As this is an active case, the City and Ferndale Police Department cannot provide further comments or information until it is fully resolved.

Tukwila SWAT takes down rape and robbery suspect

Tukwila Police arrested a suspect who was wanted in connection with a robbery and rape of a female that happened Aug. 6.

Valley SWAT Team and Snohomish County area law enforcement assisted with taking the suspect into custody. The suspect was booked into jail.

Major Crimes Unit detectives and others spent hundreds of hours on this case.

Police said the man had a handgun at the time of the incident and was considered armed and dangerous.

Attempted burglary at Pierce county car wash foiled by unsuccessful safecracking attempts

A Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to a commercial burglary at a car wash in the 13200 block of Pacific Avenue South in Parkland. When he arrived, the manager told him someone had shattered the glass door with rocks.

Surveillance video shows the suspect tried breaking into the safe, but was unsuccessful. He returned twice with a pry bar and hammer and attempted to open the safe.

Deputies say he wore a black Hurley hooded sweatshirt, a baseball cap, a mask, and a glove.

Pierce County police arrest woman for domestic violence, threatening man for trying to move out

Pierce County Deputies were dispatched to a domestic violence incident involving a weapon in the 9800 block of 132nd Street Court East, South Hill.

When they arrived, a male victim told them he had been threatened with multiple weapons.

Deputies determined that the victim was trying to move his belongings into a moving truck, but the female suspect denied him access to their residence.

He made his way inside, and the suspect chased after him with a knife, threatening to stab him.

She punctured one of the moving truck’s tires. The suspect also grabbed a gun and threatened to shoot the victim.

The 29-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into jail for assault in the first degree domestic violence, felony harassment, and malicious mischief in the third degree.
