Man arrested for starting five houses on fire 

Seattle Police arrested a 27-year-old man for arson Monday evening after he set fires at five Central District homes.

According to Seattle Police, around 7:30 p.m., officers and the Seattle Fire Department first responded to a home in the 600 block of 37th Avenue after the resident saw a man trying to set fire to his house.

After responding to the home on 37th Avenue, police and firefighters continued to receive reports of fires at homes in the area involving materials like chopped firewood, patio furniture, trash bins, boxes, and propane grills.

Police and SFD responded to investigate and extinguish four additional fires: in the 3400 block of East Terrace Street, two in the 500 block of 31st Avenue, and another in the 500 block of 30th Avenue. Officers received reports the suspect was running through the yards of homes, shirtless, with a blanket over his head.

Officers found the man, arrested him, and booked him into the King County Jail for arson.

Man wanted in connection with baby’s death arrested

Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputies with the Special Investigations Unit arrested Brian Widland, who was wanted for manslaughter in connection to the death of a 2-year-old child in December 2021.

In June, a warrant was issued for Widland’s arrest, and SIU deputies worked hard over the last two months following up on leads and eventually tracking him down.

Shooting in South Seattle at vehicles

Just after 7 p.m. Monday, Seattle Police Officers responded to a shooting in south Seattle. According to the caller, an unknown subject fired one shot at her vehicle. Officers arrived and contacted the uninjured victim.

One bullet hole was located on the rear driver’s side of the victim’s car. The victim stated that the suspect shot at her vehicle from inside of his vehicle and then drove off.

The suspect left in a vehicle before officers arrived, which was not located.

Road rage shooting in Federal Way

Another deadly road rage incident in our region.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, Aug. 9 in Federal Way, witnesses say two men got into a car crash, then began fighting in the street.

At one point, one of the men pulled a gun from his car and shot the other man.

Good Samaritans tried to give the man CPR to save him, but he died from his injuries.

Washington State Patrol troopers have warned that road rage incidents are way up this year, especially ones that end in a deadly battle.

Three shot in Auburn during neighbor dispute

Police are investigating after three people were shot in Auburn early Tuesday morning, according to the Auburn Police Department.

Just after 1:30 a.m., police responded to the 2400 block of North Street Northeast after receiving reports of shots fired.

Police say the incident started as a dispute between neighbors.

The three victims all have non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers are still searching for the shooting suspect.
