The Chelan County network systems were hacked by malware over the weekend, the county confirmed.

According to a warning from the Chelan County Emergency Management to both residents and government employees, the hack impacted “all departments within Chelan County government.”

“As a precaution, we have shut down our network, computers, and telephone system across all departments,” Chelan County stated. “Our IT department is working closely with our security partners to bring the system back up; however, we have no timeline on when this will happen.”

Chelan County IT first detected the malware at approximately 10 a.m. Sunday. Due to the holiday, the soonest update will be on Tuesday.

“At this time, we do not know the extent or the full scope of the damage,” the county wrote.

The county is additionally trying to determine if any personal data was compromised.

For emergencies, residents are asked to contact Rivercom 911.
