Cyclist critically injured in collision with Metro bus

The cyclist who was struck by a Metro Transit bus remains in serious condition one day after the accident.

The 26-year-old man is currently in the intensive care unit at Harborview Medical Center, according to a Harborview spokesperson.

Seattle police are investigating a collision between a bus and a cyclist Monday morning.

The collision occurred around 8 a.m. at Rainier Avenue South and South Jackson Street. Several people called 9-1-1 to report the incident.

The driver of the bus is cooperating with investigators. Tests show the driver, who has been placed on paid leave, was not impaired by drugs or alcohol.

The cyclist was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries shortly after the accident.
