Pierce County shooting injures two

Pierce County Sheriff’s Deputies said a child and a man were injured in a shooting that occurred this morning at approximately 1:30 a.m., in the area of 98th Street South and Ainsworth Street South.

Deputies and Tacoma Police found a vehicle crashed on 98th Street South with an injured man inside.

Deputies knew about other shootings at a home on 97th Street Court South on Sunday and Monday mornings. They investigated the location and found over 80 shell casings in the street.

Deputies said the victim was shot in the vehicle and had a rifle on the front seat.

According to deputies, a home at the corner of 98th Street South and Ainsworth Avenue South was struck by gunfire at least 30 times. A bullet grazed a 12-year-old girl inside the home. She was treated by medics and remained home. Her grandmother says she woke up to having a bullet sitting beside her arm in her bed.

Deputies believe the man in the car may have shot at people hanging out in the street, and they returned fire. The people in the street took off from the scene. There are no suspects in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

If anyone has information on this incident, please contact the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.

Jewelry store victim of smash-and-grab

Seattle Police are investigating after burglars smashed their way into a downtown jewelry store early Wednesday morning.

SPD says it happened around 3:30 a.m. Police received a 911 report of a burglary at the business in the 1600 block of 1st Avenue.

Officers arrived to find a stolen gray SUV had backed into the business, damaging the store’s entrance. Investigators believe the suspects entered the store, broke into display cases, and stole jewelry before fleeing the scene.

If you have any information about this case, please contact Seattle Police via 911.

Indigenous person missing for four days
