Seattle police are investigating after a dead body was found at a bus stop in the University District early Monday morning.

Police blocked off streets around the scene at a bus stop in the 4500 block of University Way Northeast.

The Seattle Fire Department was called to the scene around 4:30 a.m. Monday after reports of a person “down in the bus stop in that block,” according to SPD. An adult male was found dead when emergency crews arrived.

The Seattle police crime scene investigation unit arrived at about 6:30 a.m. The incident is being investigated as a homicide.

Detectives have since discovered that the male was likely assaulted and was involved in a physical fight with several other males earlier in the morning.
