Police arrest naked man who fled hospital after getting shot

Seattle Police said a man shot Thursday afternoon in the Central District later fled a hospital in the nude to avoid being arrested for a felony warrant.

At about 3:30 p.m., 911 callers reported hearing shots fired near 27th Avenue and East Spring Street. Police responded to the scene and found evidence of a collision and approximately 20 shell casings. Witnesses reported multiple cars fleeing the area, including a red BMW.

Minutes later, police were called to 17th Avenue and East Madison Street for a two-car collision involving the red BMW. The driver of the BMW exited his car and told a witness he had been shot. The other driver in the crash was not seriously injured and remained on the scene to speak with the police.

Another car arrived at the collision scene and picked up the BMW driver. The BMW driver was then dropped off at a hospital on First Hill with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his leg.

Detectives with SPD’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit responded to both scenes to collect evidence. They found two firearms and began their investigation.

Police said the man lied about his name. Detectives identified the man and learned he had a Department of Corrections warrant for escaping community custody.

Police said he tried escaping again. He took off from the hospital and ran from police, fleeing the clinic in a hospital gown. But he was not wearing the hospital gown for long; a passerby flagged down officers and said she saw a naked man running down the block. Police found the man hiding in a dumpster completely naked.

The 29-year-old man was arrested and transported to Harborview Medical Center. He will be booked into jail on his warrant after he is medically cleared.

Woman shot at while driving on highway

Washington State Patrol communications received a 911 call from a driver who said she was shot at while driving on Eastbound SR-18 between I-5 and Weyerhauser Way.

When troopers arrived on the scene and spoke with the woman, they found a bullet hole in the driver and passenger side window. The bullet came through the driver’s side window, barely missing the victim.

The woman told police a white car was driving erratically. The passenger gave her the middle finger, and the car cut in front of her and slowed down. The driver said as they entered EB SR-18, the car pulled up next to the Civic and fired a gun at her before speeding away.

The victim suffered lacerations from broken glass.

The driver is described as a thin black woman in her 20s with straight shoulder-length hair. The shooter is described as a thin black man with short hair wearing a white T-shirt.

Man arrested for distributing child pornography among other charges

Tacoma Police Special Assault Unit Detectives began an investigation regarding a subject believed to be possessing and distributing child pornography and conducting acts of Voyeurism.

Detectives developed probable cause, and Pierce County Superior Court issued a search warrant.

On July 12, 2022, Tacoma detectives served a warrant at a residence in Tacoma with the assistance of Tacoma Police Forensics, Community Policing Units, and the Washington State Patrol.

A 33-year-old male suspect was arrested and booked into Pierce County Jail on four counts of dealing in the depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct in the first degree and two counts of voyeurism in the first degree.

Man found sleeping in car leads to significant drug arrest

A few weeks ago, Federal Way police officers responded to Dash Point State Park for a 911 call of a suspicious male who was nodding off in the parking lot in a vehicle.

The officers discovered that the vehicle’s registered owner had a felony no-bail warrant out of the Department of Corrections for manufacturing, delivering, and possessing illegal substances, a Violation of the Uniform Controlled Substance Act (VUCSA).

When officers arrived, they determined the subject in the vehicle was indeed the 30-year-old wanted individual. He was subsequently arrested on his warrant.

Suspected heroin was located along with $2,212 in cash. Drug paraphernalia was also observed in the vehicle. The vehicle was impounded for the application of a search warrant.

A few days later, detectives from the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) authored a search warrant, which a judge granted. SIU served the search warrant and located a loaded Walther .380 semi-automatic pistol, heroin, methamphetamine, a digital scale, 93 rounds of ammunition, and 386 baggies consistent with the packaging and distribution of street drugs. The suspect is a five-time convicted felon and is prohibited from being in possession of firearms.
