The National Weather Service reported patchy, dense fog across Western Washington, advising drivers on I-5, I-405, and I-90 to use extra caution during periods of decreased visibility.

Satellite images from Monday morning showed fog in Snohomish, King, and Pierce counties, mainly gathering in areas east of Puget Sound.

The NWS issued a dense fog warning through noon, with things expected to clear up in the afternoon hours.

New Year’s Eve revelers tonight should prepare for cold weather, with temperatures expected down around 33 degrees Fahrenheit by the time the clock strikes midnight on 2018.

If you’re looking to stay out of the cold on your ride home tonight, King County Metro is offering free rides between 7 p.m. Monday (New Year’s Eve) to 4 a.m. Tuesday. Sound Transit is also running light rail lines until 2 a.m.

Law enforcement will have extra DUI patrols out tonight in full force.
