As wildfires continue to burn across Washington, many are returning to their communities without a place to stay.

Airbnb’s nonprofit offshoot, Airbnb.org, announced yesterday that they have kicked off a formal partnership with Washington 211 to locate those impacted by the ongoing wildfires and provide them with temporary housing — for free.

“When disaster strikes, a comfortable place to call home can make all the difference, while providing first responders an opportunity to recharge for the next day,” Executive Director of Airbnb.org Christoph Gorder said. “We’re grateful to work with our partners to help people displaced by the wildfires find a free temporary place to call home as their recovery process begins.”

Those affected by the fires who live in Spokane, Stevens, Chelan, Okanogan, Yakima, and Ferry counties are eligible. In addition, those living in the Spokane, Colville, and Yakima tribal communities are also eligible for temporary housing, according to Airbnb.

If you’re looking for temporary housing, Airbnb.org recommends calling 211 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific Time.

A specialist should help you with the process and determine your eligibility.
