Disturbing trend of bodies piling up north of Blaine

Fourteen miles north of Blaine, the small town of Surrey, British Columbia, is dealing with a spike in homicides and one quiet stretch of road has become a popular spot to dump bodies.
Four bodies have been found along Colebrook Road in Surrey in the last six weeks. Two were dumped there. Two were killed there. The latest victims were found on Wednesday.
“It’s hard to speculate what these might be related to,” said Sergeant Jennifer Pound of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team. Investigators are looking to see if there are any connections between the murders.
The only common thread between the victims is they appear to have been involved in crime, at least three of the victims had long criminal rap sheets. It’s possible the murders are related to the turf war raging between rival drug gangs in southern British Columbia. There has been a recent power vacuum after several major players were put away.
“We are diligently working on them,” Sergeant Pound said. “We are looking into any potential connections they may have with each other.”
What makes this spot so appealing to criminals is it is very dark and very remote. There is only one way onto Colebrook Road, and it dead ends. The railroad tracks are on one side a few farms are on the other.
The murders and dumped-bodies are such a concern that the Royal Canadian Mounted Police are now doing routine patrols in the area. It was one of these patrols that found the latest bodies this week. Surrey’s mayor is now asking that lights be installed on the road to deter criminals from using the area.
