A drive-by shooting in south Seattle Friday night left a 19-year-old man in critical condition after suffering a gunshot wound to the head.

Police said one or more suspects fired several shots at a vehicle near Martin Luther King Jr. Way S. and S. Henderson Street.

Later that night, 911 dispatchers received a report of a shooting victim at a different location, near S. 11th St. and Chicago St., on south Beacon Hill. Officers arrived around 11:40 p.m. and found the victim with a life-threatening gunshot wound to the head.

Police and firefighters gave him first aid. Medics then transported him to Harborview Medical Center.

Detectives with the Seattle Police Department’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit (GVRU) are investigating the circumstances of the shooting. They determined it happened near the Rainier Beach Sound Transit Light Rail Station at S. Henderson and Martin Luther King Way S.

It’s believed a car associated with the victim at that location was hit by gunfire several times.

One or more suspects took off from the shooting scene in another car before police arrived.

So far, police have not identified or arrested any suspects.

Officers taped off the intersection for the investigation, then collected dozens of shell casings. While no suspects are in custody, police did seize two vehicles believed to be involved.

Officers impounded the vehicles so that detectives could process them for evidence.

Detectives are also interviewing witnesses to the shooting. They are still trying to determine what led to the shooting.
