Police in Lynnwood say a DUI suspect caused a crash that sent an SUV with children inside flying upside down.

Amazingly, the vehicle landed on all four of its wheels during the accident Tuesday, and the children were not seriously hurt.

Investigators released a traffic video, from a camera posted at Alderwood Mall Blvd. and Alderwood Mall Parkway that clearly shows the collision.

In the video, the causing driver is seen first hitting a curb, then barreling through an intersection and slamming into a white SUV.

The impact caused the driver of the SUV to lose control, sending the vehicle airborne, flipping upside down, then completely over, and back onto its wheels again.

Police say no one was hurt in either vehicle.

The children were strapped into their age-appropriate child car seats with seatbelts properly secured.

Investigators say it’s very likely that’s what kept them from being injured.

Police determined the driver, who is believed to have caused the crash, was impaired.

They arrested that person for both DUI and reckless driving.

The Lynnwood Police Department released the video on its Facebook page, along with this reminder about the safety of using child restraints while driving:

These incidents are a reminder that seatbelts and proper restraints matter every time. With the Occupant Protection Campaign starting in May, focused on seatbelt use and enforcement, it is a good reminder:  Drive sober. Buckle up. Every trip. Every time.”  Lynnwood Police Dept.
