A 200-foot drydock in Everett sank on Saturday, causing a
140-foot tugboat to capsize.
The boat is holding about 50,000 to 60,000 gallons of diesel
fuel.
The Department of Ecology spokesperson Jani Gilbert says
they’ve taken precautions in case the Invader begins to leak
fuel.
“Any amount of oil going into the water is bad, but this
would be catastrophic at 50,000 to 60,000 gallons.”
Divers sealed up vents. A boom also surrounds the site to
absorb any oil that may leak.
It’s still unclear what caused the drydock to sink.
