DUI deja vu: Drunk driving suspect busted twice in eight hours

Mar 6, 2013, 1:55 PM | Updated: 2:56 pm

Washington State Patrol troopers who nailed a woman for drunk driving Tuesday morning did a blood draw and then released her. She wasn’t so lucky the second time.

Trooper Guy Gill says the woman was initially stopped at about noontime, near the Pierce-Thurston county line on southbound I-5, for erratic driving and taken to a hospital for a blood draw.

“Just eight hours later, she was in a different vehicle and arrested again,” said Guy. “Another blood draw was done and again suspect appeared to be drug-impaired. Both times, both vehicles were impounded.”

Gill said troopers have the discretion to release a driver who is cited for drunk driving, but this woman did not get a third chance. After the second arrest on northbound I-5 near Lakewood, she was booked into the Pierce County Jail.
