A fire broke out in an Everett apartment building early Monday morning, injuring two people and displacing 41.

The fire damaged 10 apartments in a complex on 18th Avenue W. in Everett at approximately 5 a.m.

“The fire left 10 units either uninhabitable or with major damage,” American Red Cross Northwest Region stated. “Of those impacted, at least 50% are children. Red Cross disaster responders are on-site assisting residents with urgent needs, which may include emergency shelter, food, and clothing.”

One person was treated at the scene for unknown injuries, while a second person was taken to a nearby hospital. Both of the victim’s conditions are unknown, as of this reporting.

“Thanks to our partners at South County Fire, Marysville Fire District, Mukilteo Fire Department, and Everett Police Department for all their help,” the Everett Fire Department stated.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
