The King County Sheriff’s Office is increasing emphasis patrols after two separate shootings in White Center.

On Sunday morning, there was a disturbance outside an after-hours club in the alley between 16th Avenue Southwest and 17th Avenue Southwest. Investigators said the disturbance led to a shooting between multiple people.

A 28-year-old man was shot in the leg and was treated and released from a hospital. A 30-year-old man remains in critical condition, and a 29-year-old man remains in serious condition.

The second shooting happened Monday morning. A 27-year-old man called 911 to report he had been shot near his house in the 10600 block of First Avenue Southwest. The victim was taken to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition.

Deputies said the shooter was known to the victim and fled.

“We are aware that violent crime is trending up. We will be adding deputies for increased emphasis patrols targeting crimes of violence,” said King County Sheriff Mitzi G. Johanknecht. “The patrols will be random and at different times of the day to increase visibility in areas where violent crime is likely to occur.”

Deputies said the two shootings are unrelated and there is no indication either is gang-related. They remain under investigation.
