Everett artists paint pianos for sidewalk play

Aug 2, 2011, 3:05 PM | Updated: Oct 10, 2012, 7:28 am

Don’t be shocked if you see a piano sitting on a sidewalk in downtown Everett starting Wednesday.

The city is putting 10 pianos out on downtown sidewalks as part of a showcase called “Street Tunes: An Invitation for the Public to Jam.”

“These pianos are very spectacular to look at,” said City spokesperson Kate Reardon. Each piano was decorated by a different local artist.

“[The pianos] are going to be spread out throughout the downtown area for people to come up and enjoy the art as well as interact with the art – so we want people to play those pianos,” Reardon said.

The instruments will be on the streets and available to play until Aug. 24.
