Just meeting Russell Wilson is a thrill for die hard fans, but how much would you pay to actually catch a pass thrown by the Seahawks quarterback?

An Everett businessman figured it was worth $2200 at a charity auction this week to benefit Seattle’s Matt Talbot Center, an addiction treatment facility for the homeless.

The bidding was fierce, but Steve Nys was undaunted. And despite the pressure, Steve insists he wasn’t nervous being on the other end of the Wilson spiral.

“I didn’t even think about it. I just knew I was going to catch it.”

It was such a thrill for Steve, he even successfully bid on a second toss from Wilson. In keeping with the spirit of the evening, he gave it to one of his co-worker’s, another huge Seahawks fan.

“I think that’s pretty much a highlight for me. It was pretty cool to catch a pass from Russell,” Steve says.

Steve was pretty excited to trade words with the QB as well, albeit briefly.

“I just told him he’s doing a great job this year and he said ‘thanks.'”

Steve does have one regret after the pair of 20 yard tosses.

“I wish I would have gone back further. That would have been a lot of fun if I went to the back of the room. See how good he really is,” Steve laughs.
