Facebook helps catch accused Skyline threat-maker

Facebook played a major role in leading police to the 16-year-old Edmonds boy accused of making an online threat against Skyline High School two weeks ago.
An Issaquah Police detective went on Facebook shortly after the mass shooting threat was made public. He noticed a group started by students called “not going to school tomorrow because of threat.”
He followed the threat and noticed a series of taunting posts from the 16-year-old.
The Issaquah Press reports the boy was interviewed by police, and he denied making the threat but admitted to writing the posts on Facebook.
The police noticed similar writing patterns in the posts and in the threat and in archived chats with friends. Those friends also told detectives the teen had boasted about the threat.
He is expected to be charged with cyberbullying and harassment on Thursday.
