The Washington State Patrol (WSP) arrested a driver on suspicion of vehicular homicide Tuesday morning after a passenger car collided with two semi-trucks and another passenger car, leaving one dead. After closing all lanes of SB I-5 near the Northgate Way exit, troopers have re-opened two lanes of the interstate.

Around 6:a.m., the collision closed all lanes of southbound I-5 near the Northgate Way exit. Traffic was diverted into collector/ distributor lanes at the exit, and the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is recommending that commuters find alternate routes.

Neither the WSP nor WSDOT have established a clear timeline for when the scene of the crash will be cleared, opening the interstate to traffic.

Update: 8:16 a.m.

Darren Dedo is on the scene of I-5 where WSDOT has opened up two southbound lanes of traffic, with drivers slowly merging down to get past the collision. One of the drivers of the semi-truck is reported to be dead, and police have taken another driver into custody on suspicion of vehicular homicide and impairment.
