Fatal crash tied to homicide in Mill Creek

Oct 29, 2012, 8:11 AM | Updated: Nov 2, 2012, 9:16 pm

Police in Mill Creek are investigating two deaths that appear to be connected. The first involved a woman found dead by police in her apartment. The second involved a man killed in a high speed crash just a few blocks away.

Police discovered the first body when neighbors called shortly after midnight to report a fight at an apartment complex in the 14700 block of Main Street. When officers arrived, nobody answered the door. They could see a woman inside on the floor.

“They ended up making forced entry to check on her welfare and found that she was deceased,” said Mill Creek officer Ian Durkee.

At about the same time, a Snohomish County sheriff’s deputy spotted a car on the Bothell-Everett Highway speeding away from the area.

“The deputy tried to catch up to the vehicle and eventually found it crashed, it had struck a parked semi-truck,” explained Durkee. The driver in his 20s was dead at the scene of the incident in the 18500 block of 35th Avenue S.E., about four miles south of the apartment complex.

The car in the fatal crash was registered to the address where the woman was found dead. Police say the man and woman were husband and wife and it appears the 30-year-old man assaulted his 27-year-old pregnant wife. She was found with a severe head wound.
