Few answers in Arlington sniper investigation

Authorities have released little information about the man suspected of firing at passersby and police in an Arlington neighborhood on Sunday.
The medical examiner removed the man’s body Monday night, nearly 24 hours after he was killed during a shootout with police.
Police are still not sure what led the man to shoot random targets. Neither the man’s name, nor his description has been released.
The medical examiner will determine if the man was killed by police bullets or took his own life, but it’s believed he was killed by officers.
Authorities called off their search for a second sniper after looking through a neighborhood and nearby woods where the alleged shooter was found dead.
Using a scoped-rifle and dressed in camouflage, the man reportedly fired on neighbors, passing cars and police SWAT teams when they rushed in to investigate.
Only one person was injured by the gunfire, but that man is expected to be OK.
There are reports that the alleged shooter might have had a history of mental illness. But those reports not been confirmed.
After an extensive search of the area, police believe the man acted alone. Snohomish County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Shari Ireton said dozens of investigators from multiple agencies were scouring the area Monday, but did not find a second weapon associated with the shooting.
The large number of shots fired was the main reason why police believed there may have been another gunman.
Authorities are asking the public to contact police if their vehicle was shot at any time Sunday in Snohomish County. They have set up a tip line to take those calls at 425-388-3845.
