Two single-family homes were destroyed in a large blaze Thursday afternoon in West Seattle.

A third home had extensive damage, according to the Seattle Fire Department.

About 100 firefighters responded to the 6700 block of 46th Avenue SW just before 5 p.m., where the three homes were on fire.

Smoke from the homes could be seen from miles out, according to the Seattle Department of Transportation.

Crews had difficulty getting sufficient water to the fire, according to Seattle Fire spokesman Kyle Moore. The closest hydrant was about 200 yards away. Water pressure was diminished when firefighters attempted to run multiple hoses off the same hydrant. Seattle Public Utilities was called in to increase water pressure.

No injuries were reported. All occupants were accounted for, according to the fire department.

The damage estimate and cause of the fire is under investigation.

Fauntleroy Way SW was closed between SW Holly Street and SW Mills Street due to the fire.

The Associated Press contributed to this story.
