An 87-year-old woman died from a house fire in Seattle’s Cherry Hill neighborhood Thursday evening.

The Seattle Fire Department was called to respond to a house fire that broke out just before 6 p.m. Thursday on 20th Avenue, near the Garfield Playfield.

Fire crews extinguished the fire in about 10 minutes, with firefighters pulling an elderly woman out of the home.

“Crews attempted lifesaving measures on the patient, but unfortunately, she was declared deceased at the scene,” Seattle Fire reported.

The medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of her death.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
