Many Western Washington residents haven’t experienced 70-degree weather since the unusually warm days we saw in early November. That’s all expected to change on Wednesday.
Seattle weather: What a difference a year can make
Forecasts are calling for highs in the low 70s in Seattle mid-week.
University of Washington Climatologist Nick Bond says we will likely be able to tell it’s warming up based on the behavior of people who grew up in the area.
“You can tell the true Seattle natives, in that once it gets 70 degrees [they say], Oh, it’s too hot,” he said.
But things will be short-lived.
The National Weather Service says it could get stormy around Puget Sound Thursday afternoon with a likelihood of thunderstorms rolling in.

Thunderstorms are also likely on Friday as the warm air causes unstable pressure around Puget Sound.
As we move into the weekend, more sun will come out and by next Monday we could have a fully sunny day.
The National Weather Service reminds people that the waters around Western Washington are still too cold to swim in, and there is increased avalanche risk in the Cascade Mountains when the weather warms up quickly.
