A vigorous wind storm that blew into the Puget Sound area Wednesday could get even stronger through the evening.

“We’ve got strong pressure differences that are going to produce some very blustery winds throughout the Puget Sound and much of Western Washington,” says Ted Buehner with the National Weather Service.

Buehner is warning that gusts up to 50 miles per hour are possible. A wind advisory remains in effect until 11 p.m. Wednesday for Everett and Seattle south to Chehalis.

The National Weather Service warns winds of this strength can cause breaks in trees and local power outages.

Rain, thunderstorms, and even snow could follow Wednesday’s heavy winds into Thursday. Buehner says snow levels around the Puget Sound will get down to 500 feet by Thursday morning.

“Welcome to the first day of spring,” says Buehner.
