A formerly missing Thurston County high school football player and another teen are facing murder, weapons, and burglary charges.

Pierce County prosecutors said 16-year-old Gabriel Davies and 16-year-old Justin Yoon allegedly shot and stabbed to death 51-year-old Daniel McCaw in an Orting home.

Gabriel Davies’ mom, 50-year-old Amanda Olufson, had been in a relationship with McCaw, according to court documents. The couple had allegedly split up two-to-four weeks before his murder.

On Sept. 2, Davies’ father told deputies his son was forced by the victim’s outlaw biker gang to steal items from McCaw’s safe in his home, according to court documents.

His father claimed his son was roughed up by the gang previously. The blood found in Davies’ car the day he went missing is suspected to be from the altercation. The father said the bikers also took his shoes and shirt.

Pierce County deputies found McCaw’s decomposing body last Thursday during a welfare check after McCaw hadn’t shown up for his shift at work for four days. Deputies entered the home and found McCaw’s body on the floor with a significant amount of blood around it in the home’s laundry room, according to probable cause documents.

At approximately 2 a.m. Aug. 28, the suspects crawled into the residence through a dog door, according to video surveillance described in court documents. The teens are allegedly seen running off with a firearm and ammo.

Davies was reported missing Aug. 31, when investigators found exterior damage to his vehicle and suspected blood on the steering wheel and driver door side panel. His cell phone was also smashed on the road.

A massive search was launched with authorities finding him the next day, Sept. 1, near Tenino on Tilley Road. It was close to where authorities had found his car. He was found with no shoes or shirt and deputies noted that his injuries didn’t look like ones that someone would have after walking in the woods for approximately 36 hours.

Deputies served warrants at both Davies’ and Yoon’s homes. Davies showed detectives where Yoon allegedly dumped two firearms owned by McCaw and two pouches full of throwing knives.

The medical examiner determined McCaw was shot in the head and stomach. He was also stabbed multiple times.

A judge will decide if the teens will be charged as adults.
