Former Seattle police commander to help with 20/20 plan

Mayor Mike McGinn has hired a former commander in the Seattle Police Department to help oversee the 20/20 reform plan.

That’s the plan that was launched after the Justice Department’s report on excessive force and civil rights violations by the Seattle Police Department.

Retired assistant chief Harry Bailey has been hired to help work with the police and the community on ways to improve the department.

Bailey, 68, has 35 years experience working in law enforcement.

Bailey will be paid $75,000 out of the existing budget of the mayor’s office, says the mayor’s blog.
