After a tepid “Junuary,” the Seattle region heads into a July with a damp and cool start. Will the weather break in time for Fourth of July fireworks?

KIRO 7 meteorologist Nick Allard predicts things are expected to clear up by Tuesday afternoon.
- Tuesday, July 3, 2018: Clouds or partially cloudy with afternoon sun reaching into the mid-70s. 💧 ⛅
- Wednesday, July 4, 2018: Temperatures around 81 degrees. 🌞 ⛅
- Thursday, July 5, 2018: Temperatures around 80 degrees. 🌞
- Friday, July 6, 2018: Things cool down into the 70s as clouds start to return. â›…
Allard says Wednesday morning will actually start out sunny, but clouds will increase from the south throughout the day.
“It will also be a little gusty that day too …” Allard said of July 4. “I’d say north winds in the afternoon and evening about 10-20 miles and hour. That is something to keep in mind for the Fourth.”
Arthur Gaebel with the National Weather Service backs up Allard’s assessment and says that for a few days the temperatures will rise and chances of rain will drop.
“We start drying things out (Monday) …” Gaebel said. “(Tuesday) evening you shouldn’t have any problem for fireworks.”

Potential for fireworks into the Cascades, however, may not be as high over the holiday. Mountain showers are possible the further away from Seattle you get.
“In the metro areas, we should be alright,” Gaebel said. “We may be looking at some showers in the mountains, the Cascades. But in Seattle you should be alright.”
