A significant thoroughfare in Seattle’s Eastlake neighborhood is closed off in both directions Tuesday morning after construction crews hit a gas line.

The construction crew hit a gas line on Eastlake Avenue E. near E. Roanoke Street.

All northbound and southbound lanes of Eastlake Avenue E. near E. Louisa Street were blocked, according to the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT). Drivers are being asked to use side streets and alternative routes to avoid the road.

There is no ETA for how long the roadway would be closed, according to the Seattle Police Department (SPD).
