As the weather gets nice and more people are heading out
into nature, the GeekWire team decided it was time to
feature a great parks app as their app of the week.

GeekWire‘s Todd Bishop calls the National
Parks app from National Geographic, “Probably the coolest
sort of magazine style app I’ve ever seen.”

The base version of the app is free and offers pictures, a
park guide, and a map for each of the National Parks.
There are options to expand content for each park for an
additional fee.

“Everything from Mt. Rainier right here in our backyard to
Haleakala in Maui,” said Bishop of what the app covers.

The app also lets visitors post ‘I was here’ tags as well
as favorite particular park campgrounds and lodging sites.

Parks app

GeekWire can
heard on the new 97.3 KIRO FM Weekend on Saturday at 7
a.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. Available anytime ON DEMAND at MyNorthwest.com.
