Tides Tavern, an iconic Gig Harbor eatery, is changing hands after the owner sold the establishment to Anthony’s Restaurants.
Dylan Stanley, the owner of Tides Tavern, has been operating Tides Tavern for the last 53 years. He chose Anthony’s Restaurants to take over as it is another family-owned company. Anthony’s Restaurants will honor the tavern’s legacy by keeping the tavern’s name while retaining Chef John-Vincent Palacio and the restaurant’s management staff, according to The Tacoma News Tribune.
“This was not an easy decision. The Tides has been part of our family for 53 years,” Stanley said in a prepared statement. “My dad and I are incredibly grateful to our loyal customers, employees, and the community for their support over the years, and we are grateful that Anthony’s, another family-owned company, will steward it in a way that honors its legacy and keeps the Tides unique and special in the decades to come.”
Tides Tavern has been open since 1973. According to GigHarborNow, Tides Tavern is “likely” the oldest continuously operating, public-facing business in Gig Harbor.
Anthony’s Restaurants has 32 restaurants around the Pacific Northwest, including one, called Anthony’s at Gig Harbor, located just a mile from the Tides.
