A 19-year-old Great Wolf Lodge lifeguard has been arrested for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Thursday.

Detectives with the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office arrested the teen Tuesday at Rochester High School where he’s a senior, The Olympian reported.

Court papers say the teen met the girl while she was staying at Great Wolf Lodge with her family.

The alleged rape occurred on Tuesday, according to court papers. Security staff with the family resort south of Olympia in Grand Mound have reportedly shared surveillance footage with detectives showing the alleged victim and the suspect leaving the hotel just past midnight Tuesday.

The alleged victim has said the suspect drove her to an unknown location in his car and raped her, court papers state.

The suspect also told detectives that the alleged victim told him she is 14 years old, but he said, “he did not believe her,” according to court records.

When Alex Salazar saw a deputy approach him at Rochester High School Tuesday, he “immediately began crying and said, ‘I messed up,'” court records state.

The teen was reportedly fired from his job following the arrest.

Court records say he has no prior criminal history and was being held Wednesday at the Thurston County Jail, on suspicion of third-degree rape of a child, and second-degree rape.
