Guns taken from South Hill home after double murder

May 29, 2012, 5:45 AM | Updated: 3:27 pm

Police are now comfortable saying that two men found dead inside a South Hill home Monday were murdered. Weapons and a computer tower were missing from the scene, investigators say.

Jeffrey Poling, 36, and Travis Dennis, 32, each died of a single gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators called the crime scene “complicated.”

“It’s not your normal scene,” said Pierce County Sheriff’s
Spokesman Ed Troyer. “A lot of weapons in the house, a lot
of ammo in the house, ballistic vests.”

Tuesday, investigators discovered some weapons that had been in the home the night before the homicides are now missing. The weapons include an AR-15 and AK-47 rifle.

A computer tower was also missing from the home.

“Not the rest of the computer, but just the hard drive and tower,” Troyer said. “That leads us to believe that somebody knew something might have been on that computer.”

Troyer said the sheriff’s office has received several leads, but does not have any persons of interest.

Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers has offered a $1,000 reward for information in the case. Crime Stoppers can be reached at 253-591-5959.
