Snohomish County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating what led to the shooting of a robbery suspect near Lake Stevens Tuesday night.

Sheriff’s spokesperson Shari Ireton, says the homeowner and a friend were in the garage at 126th Dr NE when two men with their faces covered walked in and tried to rob them at gun point.

“The acquaintance of the homeowner pulled the gun out of his car and shot one of the robbery suspects,” says Snohomish County Sheriff’s spokesperson Shari Ireton. “The other suspect fled and the homeowner called 911.”

The wounded suspect, who police say is a 41-year-old man, was taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious injuries.

The homeowner, a man in his 30’s, was taken to Providence Hospital for medical evaluation related to stress.

The 33-year-old friend who shot the alleged thief is cooperating with investigators.

Police say they worked through the night gathering evidence and conducting interviews at the home.
