Human remains discovered in heavily wooded area near Puyallup, death investigation underway

Human remains were found in a heavily wooded area in Frederickson, an unincorporated community near Puyallup, on Wednesday.
At approximately 11 a.m., Pierce County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) deputies were dispatched to an area in the 7700 block of 176th Street E, PCSO announced.
After receiving a report that there were human remains in the area, deputies responded and confirmed that the remains were human.
PCSO detectives and forensic personnel also responded to the scene to begin a death investigation.
A large law enforcement presence remained in the area throughout the afternoon as investigators worked to process the scene and collect evidence.
PCSO noted that due to the advanced decomposition, the identity of the remains was not immediately available.
The county medical examiner’s office is currently working to determine the identity of the remains along with the cause and manner of death.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
