Oversized truck gets stuck in covered portion of Seattle’s I-5 express lanes

Mar 30, 2018, 6:17 PM | Updated: 8:06 pm

An oversized truck snarled commutes Friday evening when it got stuck on the I-5 express lanes, shutting down northbound access.

The semi-truck traveling in the northbound express lanes had an over-height load. It was carrying construction equipment on a trailer. That equipment struck the ceiling of the covered roadway. It got stuck in a covered portion of the express lanes near James, Pike, and Stewart Streets at around 5 p.m. Entrances were initially closed, but reopened by 6 p.m.

The Washington State Patrol reports that the truck hit several support structures along the express lanes.

The truck remained jammed in the express lanes through Friday night.
