A new IKEA location is coming to western Washington, but not in the typical store format.

Instead of the standard shopping cart experience, the company is preparing to open a plan and order point, with pick-up, in Redmond this winter, according to a news release from IKEA U.S.

Customers can meet with an employee at the store for a personalized design consultation regarding their kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, or small living space. Workers will then arrange a delivery or schedule a pick-up for the customer at the on-site pick-up location.

The company said the new format increases accessibility and “meets customers where they are and how they like to shop.”

Online shoppers will also be able to pick up qualifying orders at the new store.

New IKEA will be part of Redmond Town Center

The IKEA will be located in the Redmond Town Center and will take up 2,730 square feet of retail space.

“I’m beyond excited to welcome customers at IKEA Redmond this winter,” Ken Bodeen, IKEA Renton Market Manager, stated in the release. “The IKEA Redmond plan and order point with pick-up brings our signature styles closer to the community—making it more accessible, more convenient, and of course, more affordable.”

The company also recently updated its rewards with new IKEA Family benefits, along with lower-priced shipping and delivery.
