Incumbent congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler (R-WA03) conceded to her opponent Joe Kent on Tuesday, according to the Associated Press. Herrera Beutler’s concession comes less than 24 hours after Kent took the lead in the third district.

Kent, backed by former President Donald Trump will face Marie Gluesenkamp Perez in the general election. Gluesenkamp Perez captured 30% of the vote during the primary.

Herrera Beutler led Kent on election night, but by Friday, her lead had shrunk to 257 votes. That vanished Monday as Kent took a 960-vote lead on the strength of new counts in Clark, Cowlitz, and Thurston counties.

She previously voted to impeach former President Donald Trump alongside Reps. Peter Meijer, R-Mich. and Dan Newhouse, R-Wash.

Trump targeted each of these congressional races with public endorsements for their opponents, including MAGA-supporter Kent, a former Green Beret.

This is a developing story.
