A jury in Kitsap County has convicted a woman who prosecutors say witnessed the murder of a state trooper.

A jury in Kitsap County has convicted a woman who
prosecutors say witnessed the murder of a state trooper and
helped his killer evade capture in the hours that followed.

Megan Mollet was found guilty Friday of rendering criminal
assistance; a felony.

Prosecutors argued that Mollet, 19, did so not out of fear
for her own life, as she claimed, but because she would do
anything to help her friend, Joshua Blake.

According to court documents, Mollet was a passenger in a
car driven by Blake, who police say shot and killed
Washington State Patrol Trooper Tony Radulescu during a
routine traffic stop near Gorst, Wash., on February 23.

Blake later took his own life.

Five other people were also charged with helping Blake elude
authorities, but Kitsap County Prosecutor Russell Hauge said
that Mollet was “by far the most culpable.”

Hauge said he plans to seek an exceptional sentence.
