A Kent police spokesman says a city officer has shot and wounded a man armed with a knife.

Officers were reportedly responding to a disturbance call at the Midway Mobile Manor mobile home park Tuesday night.

“Officers attempted to contact the man at which time he retreated back into the trailer with the officers in pursuit. There was a confrontation inside the trailer, and one of the officers discharged his firearm,” said Cmdr. Pat Lowery.

Lowery says the man was shot in the torso during the confrontation. He says it’s unclear what led to the shooting.

The man has been taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. His condition was not immediately known.

Two officers were placed on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
