Kent to consider full ban of medical marijuana businesses

May 11, 2012, 6:07 AM | Updated: 7:39 am

Kent has had a moratorium on medical marijuana businesses for nearly a year, and now the city is considering an outright ban.

Washington state law allows collective gardens where medical marijuana patients can pool their resources to grow up to 45 plants.

Kent has passed two six-month moratoriums on the issue in the last year.

The latest moratorium runs out in July. The Kent Reporter says the mayor believes it’s time to make a final decision.

There are two collective gardens operating in the city right now.

The city will hold a public meeting on this issue on Monday. If Kent decides to ban medical marijuana businesses, it would be only the second Washington city to adopt an outright ban.
