Seattle City Councilmember Sally Bagshaw says a key committee vote on the proposed head tax on big businesses will be moved from Wednesday to Friday.

Public hearings and committee work will still happen Wednesday, KIRO 7 reports.

The head tax would charge big businesses 26 cents per employee, per hour. Proponents say it would only target 3 percent of businesses in the city and raise $75 million to tackle the affordability and homeless issues.

Amazon announced last week they are halting plans on a new building pending the vote of the tax.

Bagshaw says the final vote for a head tax is still on for May 14 but could be moved to Friday, May 18.
