A King County deputy is reportedly being investigated by the FBI for using excessive force, and the deputy involved has a history of stepping over the line.
Matt Paul is the King County deputy who shoved a man into a brick wall in 2009 leaving him brain dead. The case cost taxpayers $10 million in a legal settlement.
KING 5 reports Deputy Paul is now being investigated by the FBI and the Department of Justice for another potential excessive force case.
Jeff Gold says he was left bloody after Deputy Paul went after him for jaywalking.
“He took off at a sprint,” he said. “It looked like a rhinoceros bearing down on me. I was running away from him so he grabbed me from behind and thrust me to the ground and my face smashed into the pavement.”
Gold has filed a lawsuit.
Deputy Paul has reportedly been put on a performance improvement plan, but he is still on patrol.
