King County Sheriff’s Office investigating Shoreline death as homicide

The King County Sheriff’s Office believes it was a homicide that left one woman dead Monday night in Shoreline.
At about 9 p.m., Shoreline police officers responded to a call to find a woman lying unconscious in a parking lot just off Aurora Avenue near Safeway.
“The caller reported that the female that was on the ground had blood around her, but she was not responsive,” King County Sheriff’s Office Ryan Abbott said.
Responders attempted to revive her with CPR, but she did not survive.

Abbott said the King County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit was out investigating all night and is now treating the 25-year-old woman’s death as a homicide.

Abbott said the woman’s cause of death was not yet public, and he could not comment on what specifically about the death leads investigators to believe it was a homicide.
“I can say that there are injuries, and there was a witness who saw her in the parking lot prior to [the injuries],” Abbott said. “When they came back, she was on the ground, unresponsive, and where she was at, there was nobody else around.”
The sheriff’s office is currently trying to identify who the suspect could be. Abbott said that even though the suspect has not been caught, it’s not believed there will be repeat killings.
“It does not sound like it’s anything that anybody needs to be concerned with — however, we’re obviously concerned for the family because we’re working hard to try determine who the suspect is so we can get some closure for the family on this,” Abbott said. “The family is aware of what has occurred, and our detectives are working hard to find who’s responsible.”
