No one was injured but firefighters were able to resuscitate a kitten after fire engulfed a shed and mobile home in Silverdale Tuesday afternoon.

The two-alarm fire broke out shortly after 4 p.m. near the Irwin’s Point area, says spokesperson Ileana LiMarzi with Central Kitsap Fire.

No one was home at the time of the fire, and rescuers discovered the kitten as they battled the blaze, quickly giving it oxygen.

“They treat that like any rescue and they’re just as concerned for pets as they are for human life so if they can get in there and get a pet out they will certainly do so,” LiMarzi says.

Firefighters are investigating the cause. The mobile home appears to be a total loss.
